You may attract an agent with Novel #2 and then bring along Novel #1 as a bonus. : ) Perhaps try querying some small presses before putting the ms aside, and if that doesn't work out, the long rest will allow you to see it fresh to revise again. Your future agent will have access to small and mid-size presses that are closed to un-agented authors, so even if she/he signs you for a big debut with Novel #2, that doesn't mean #1 wouldn't be welcomed at a mid-size press, or even a big one after you debut with #2. : )

Congrats and best wishes on your new venture!! Hugs to you!

The intensity will subside, and you will look back knowing you were totally engaged in what mattered most, your son and the rest of your family. As far as your book, no decision has to be made this instant, so why not wait and take the urgency down a notch? You may still decide to self publish, but you might wish you had given yourself more time -- whether that time turns into sending out those five sparkling queries, or having the mental space to focus completely on design, edits, etc. for a self-published book -- both approaches need time/space to grow properly.

You and your family are in my prayers.
Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10748466898258249495noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1940209088259004106.post-38118603160986823432014-02-22T22:34:00.808-05:002014-02-22T22:34:00.808-05:00Hey, feel well, take care of yourself, and know th...Hey, feel well, take care of yourself, and know that the rest of 2014 will get better. This knowledge isn't necessary for the 250 or logline, but I'd like to know just to get a feel of the story to know where to go with them. Is the Blame Collector a supernatural entity, a person appointed, or some guy with a hood handing out curses as he pleases?
It's fine, superb, that this isn't addressed. (How does one write a YA with a six-year-old as a MC?) It's a prologue. I may or may not start with it, but it is the first 250 words. The same goes for the seeming inconsistency you pointed out earlier: Selby appears to be guilty but is not.
